THE MAPPING MEMORY
by: Alexander Rasmussen
Mapping Memory is an original painting by local Niagara artist, Alexander Rasmussen. A young abstractionist, Rasmussen favours big paintings as seen in our collection here at the Prince of Wales.
In explanation of Rasmussen’s technique, Artoronto.ca says “He juggles seemingly random applications of paint to produce an overall coherent composition. In part this is achieved by his first creating in the background a square grid pattern. On top of each grid he produces delectable passages of paint that almost shimmer.”
