STILL LIFE IN AUTUMN

by: David Arathoon

In Still Life in Autumn, an original painting from Canadian artist David Arathoon, a beautiful arrangement of daisies sits atop a table in a garden. Pears, apples and cherries accompany the bouquet and add to the beauty of this “still life” work.

A still life (also known by its French title, nature morte) painting is a piece that features an arrangement of inanimate objects as its subject. Usually, these items are set on a table and often include organic objects like fruit and flowers and household items like glassware and textiles.

David Arathoon is a Canadian artist who’s received national success with his colourful and exuberant paintings. Arathoon often travels around Ontario to find beautiful subject matters and landscapes to paint.

A quote from the artist: “My favorite seasons to paint are spring and autumn. In the spring soft colors emerge in the leaves and grasses, and there are blossoms on the trees. In autumn, we get a vast range of colors in the changing leaves, combined with the evergreens, it is spectacular to see and paint.”
