Concours Hippique, which translates to ‘horse shows’, depicts an equestrian rider in a show jumping competition, and is a brilliant encapsulate of the signature style of contemporary artist, Pierre Pivet.

Pierre Pivet forms his distinctive works with a combination of brilliant colour and lyrical brushstrokes. His work is truly unique and distinctive.

Pivet, a French born artist has won many accolades throughout his career including Canada’s Silver Medal of Contemporary Art in 1981 and in 1982, he was selected for the Monte-Carlo Prize. In 1983, Pivet settled in Montreal, Quebec and in a later project painted twelve Montréal Canadiens hockey greats. Pivet’s twelve original works on canvas paid tribute to these legendary figures of hockey, each an icon in Canadian sports culture.
