A GENTLE PLEA FOR CHAOS
by: Gerda Marschall
A Gentle Plea for Chaos, from Canadian artist Gerda Marschall, was the first ever piece purchased to hang at Queen’s Landing Hotel and became the inspiration for each piece added since. The painting adds a brilliance of colour to Tiara Restaurant. After purchasing the piece from Marschall, General Manager Lily Kszan learned that Gerda was a frequent guest of Queen’s Landing. The hotel later commissioned Marschall to complete two custom, complimentary pieces to A Gentle Plea for Chaos so they could hang in harmony in the grand, waterfront restaurant. Together the gestural floral pieces illustrate a perpetual garden in bloom.
In Marschall's work, “[she] skillfully interprets reality with poetry and passion in her internationally renowned paintings that are both elegant and energetic.” (Source: Kurbatoff Gallery)
She lives and paints in Eastern Ontario on the Ottawa River. Gardening and enjoyment of nature have been a life long passion and her enthusiastic transfer of this passion to canvas started in 1984. Her studio is surrounded by trees and gardens, and with a view of the Ottawa River, providing endless inspiration.
