THROUGH THE BRANCHES OF KALAMALKA

by: Rick Bond

Through the Branches of Kalamalka by Canadian artist, Rick Bond, is one of Tiara Restaurant’s show stopping paintings. This powerful landscape piece could be representative of many parts of the country and is inspired by the Kalamalka lake region.

Found in the interior plateau of Southern Central British Columbia. At different times of the year, the colour of this lake can range from cyan to indigo in different spots at the same time. The colour in the water is derived from light scattering caused by the precipitation of calcite.

The Au P'tit Bonheur Art Gallery describes Bond as “a contemporary impressionist painter, [who] creates larger-than-life landscapes and genre scenes in a dynamic, relaxed style. A visionary artist, he expresses himself in simple, uncluttered terms. His brushstrokes are powerful and his colour palette bold.”
